High Flying No TransLink Tax Campaign Returns to the Sky Saturday

Author: Jordan Bateman 2015/05/08

VANCOUVER, B.C.: The No TransLink Tax campaign will be back in the skies of the Lower Mainland tomorrow, Saturday, May 9, when its crowd-funded ‘Vote No To TransLink Tax’ sign returns for another three-hour flight.

The plane towing the ‘Vote No’ banner first toured the Lower Mainland last Sunday. It returns for a final, three-hour flight from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow.

“Not even the fast-spending TransLink Mayors could get their bylaw officers into the sky to take down our ‘Vote No’ banner. After weeks of having our lawn signs picked up by city halls serving the YES side, it was nice to see our NO message get directly to the people,” said Jordan Bateman, No TransLink Tax spokesperson. “Our NO supporters got a real kick out of seeing their crowd-funded plane in the sky, and they were generous enough to provide another three hours of flight time.”

Saturday’s three-hour flight will take off from the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport at 11 a.m., and continue around the Lower Mainland, with special focus on the North Shore and Tri Cities until 2 p.m.

A crowd-funding campaign last month raised $1,890 to fund the flight. A private donor went directly to the airplane owner and generously added two more hours of flight time, meaning the No TransLink Tax banner was able to return tomorrow.
